Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation. Your might to all who are to come. Psalm 71:17 - 18

what it all comes down to..

There are a lot of things that I wanted to blog about, but I feel that this (what I am about to write) is the most pressing and the most important.

As many of you know, my church (RHCCC) is going through a critical transition period. Things are changing around here, both physically and spiritually. Last Sunday, an annoucement was made in our English Congregation that the Pastor-in-charge would no longer be there; the English Cong committee had decided that they would not be renewing his contract.

With this annoucement, emotions stirred within the church. Many people were upset at the news, some were confused, all were taken by surprise. And then...the uproar began. Complaints were in the air and many people criticized the church and their actions. A Q&A session was held last night and although I could not attend, I could imagine the tension in the room. I know of many people who were upset about this decicion and felt the church was at fault. To this...my response is: What it all comes down to, is that many do not trust the church and their leadership.

I recently became an ACEM member and to become one, I had to take a membership class. This 4 hour membership class was used to educate those who wished to be educated on the spiritual and administrative roles at RHCCC. In the class, our Senior Pastor made it very clear that the spiritual leadership and admin leadership was two fold. Furthermore, the reason why we, was members, do not vote for anything and everything that goes on in the church is because it gets too political...and ultimate, members of the church should trust the leadership of the church. Therefore, the hiring..and renewing of contracts, should be done by the leadership of the church...and we as members need to TRUST that God has placed each leader in the right role and TRUST that the decision being made is in the best interest of the church and of The Church.

Bottom line is...not everything will always go our way. But it goes His way. I believe that our generation has lost their trust in the church. And that is why there are fewer and fewer devoted Christians these days. We need to regain our faith in the leadership of our church. We need to trust that our pastors and deacons are spiritually mature Christians that have the God given ability to lead and make decisions for the glory of His Kingdom. We need to have faith that God knows better..and that He tries to teach us.

Oh, and become a member of the church. ;)

Until next time, may you be blessed with all sorts.
