Ive been meaning to write this for a very long time. And it will probably be a longer post, to bear with me.
When I think about the past 3 years, all the work, assignments, essays, tests and quizes. All the profs, the TAs, the bagels and x-large teas from Union Market.. The one thing that I can look back on and truly say I loved..is CCF.
In first year, I tried many fellowships. IV, Campus Crusades, KCF, but never CCF. That's because it was on a Friday night and I always went home on Fridays. After a long and strenuous year, my marks were not good enough to get back into school. I didnt know what to do. That summer, I remember a lot of my other friends coming back home, also not in a good shape. I remember us gathering in my basement, having fellowship and singing "Blessed Be Your Name", trying to praise Him when some of us had lost our faith, going through tough family troubles or just unsure of where to go in university. I remember praying for each other, carrying other's burdens and trying to stay positive for other's sake. And then...I remember the day that I told my mother I had not been accepted back into Mac. I remember crying, not knowing what to do, being so sorry that I had disappointed her yet again. I remember her telling me that it's okay, and that she would help me in any way possible....
Through 3 months of constant prayer and God working miracles, I was able to redo an assignment and a final exam for a course of mine to have it re-evaluated by a kind professor. By the end of July, I had the GPA to get back into school.
I knew that there was a greater purpose in going to Mac. I knew that I was to be there for a reason, to move mountains for God and to do His work. That summer, without even having gone to CCF before, I decided that I would commit myself to that fellowship.
I walked into Gilmore Hall the first Friday evening of my 2nd year. It was scary, I didnt know anyone, but I knew that God would provide what I needed. And of course, in all His faithfulness, He did. I began to make friends, serve in worship and participate in the regular programs. I made friends with brothers and sisters who had the same zeal I had for God. I thanked Him so much for showing me a greater way.
At the end of 2nd year, I was nominated and voted in to be on Committee. This is the year I treasure the most. This is the year I made even better friends, served the fellowship even more and learned so much more about myself and about the God that I love. Many times during the year, I was so burdened and so tired of doing Committee stuff. The weekly meetings, the prayer meetings and our regular programs. But...I know that when push comes to shove, I wouldnt trade this year for ANYTHING in the world and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The Lord has blessed me with so much, and I know the only way to give back to Him is my everything.
To CCF:
I know that this story only testifies to a small measure of what God can do in people's lives. He has blessed me so much, to such a huge extent, that I cant possible explain every good thing that He has done in my life. I cant tell you guys how much you have impacted and shaped my life to what it is now. I know that I am a woman of God today because CCF has taught me and allowed me to grow. You guys have been my core for the past 2 years, my anchor for Christ in our crazy campus. You have provided me with SO many good times, and enough bad times to help me mature in Christ. I will honestly miss this fellowship and serving this fellowship A LOT. I pray for our new committee and our members. Those fond memories of CCF will always be in my heart. Thank you for the amazing times. Cheers, to another great year at CCF when we know and expect God to move His mighty hand in our campus! I love you guys.
in Christ alone,
Kelly
